People are angry that they have to pay high fees when selling on eBay and that they have less control over the selling process. When they have had enough,that’s when they decide to open an E-commerce online store as the best alternative to eBay.
 
But are these people right?
 
Do you think opening an online store is the better alternative to simply registering on eBay, where you can start selling right away? I don’t think so, and let me explain why.
 
An e-commerce online store is a website you can control, add your own products and you don’t have to pay any final value fees or insertion fees like you do on eBay.
 
If you are selling on eBay and you want to list the item, you have to pay for inserting it into the eBay marketplace. The insertion fee is calculated on many different factors, but personally, I cut it down to only a few cents for inserting an item. I think it is a fair price, because your product will appear in the eBay marketplace and it will be visible to numerous potential buyers.
 
If your item is sold, you have to pay final value fees for eBay,which is a little bit higher and is based on your final price. If your buyer pays through PayPal, you must also pay PayPal fees, which are $3.20 if the person sends you $100.
 
Therefore, if you want to sell on eBay, you have to pay three types of fees: insertion, final value and PayPal. That’s it; you don’t have to pay for anything else.
 
However, remember that eBay is the No. 1 auction platform in the World and it has its own registered customers. This year alone, eBay had 160 million active users. (Active users are real people who sell and buy.) I am also a seller on eBay and sell many different items, but I also buy a lot through eBay as well. Think about how huge this market really is with so many people searching through things to buy.
 
Now let’s get back to the main thing – E-commerce store. Imagine you decided to open an online store and you added many different products.
 
How you are going to get customers?
 
They don’t know you. So how are you going to attract the same amount of potential customers as eBay?
 
The answer is simple; you need to spend money for advertising, SEO (search engine optimization), press releases and many other campaigns if you want to start selling. However, you can’topen an e-commerce store just like that. You have to pay a monthly fee to have one or hire a programmer to create it. And if you decided to create a custom online store, don’t forget about creating a professional design, because you don’t want to appear sloppy and unattractive.
 
Now think about how much a professional SEO expert will cost you, along with a good programmer, press release writer and banners on other sites. You need to spend at least $5,000 every month and this is not a very big sum if you want to get some sales.

Most online stores use merchant accounts and PayPal. Because I use eBay to sell my products, PayPal is the best and easiest option for me. However, if you have an online store, you have to open a merchant account and that could really cost you money, definitely more than PayPal.
 
You can’t just list one or two products in an e-commerce store because it will not look professional. People use online stores so that they can choose between several different products. So you have to store many different products, and a big warehouse is a best solution for this.
 
But with eBay, it is much different. You can list just one item, and make money. This is how simple it is really is.
 
EBay fees are not that bad; you are just paying a little bit to introduce your products to 160 million people.
 
I don’t want to say that an e-commerce online store is bad and you don’t want to go this way. No, it is a very good business, but it can cost a lot. One day I calculated everything and came to a costly conclusion. If you want to set up and start a business selling products through an online store, you need at least $100,000 for the things I just mentioned.
 
However, if you want to start a business on eBay, you can start with only a few hundred dollars. Starting the business with a few hundred dollars will lead you to increasing income every month and best of all, you might even be able to quit your day job.
 
I think the main problem is that people don’t source products from China. Instead, they like to use drop shipping or local wholesalers, and this is the main reason they fail on eBay, but blame the high fees and big competition. You must understand that you need to use the main source, buy and import directly from China if you want to make money. I have no problem paying eBay fees because I buy products cheap and there is a huge room for profit.
 
The conclusion is that eBay is the cheapest and fastest way to make money selling products online. This is why I use eBay and don’t have an e-commerce store. And honestly, I am not thinking about opening any time in the near future.

Suspension on eBay is for life and chances are very slim to get your eBay account back. Well I am here to help you and not to talk about the things you already know so let’s get started.
 
I will give you a step-by-step guide on how to create a new eBay account and how to manage it in the future.
 
1. First, you must understand that eBay suspended you. This means that you can’t use your real name to create a new eBay account. You have to find a person that can help you with that. It can be your mother, father, sister, girlfriend or boyfriend – anyone that you can trust.
 

2. After someone decides to help you, ask him or her to go to the bank and get a Visa or MasterCard that can be used online. Most of the models are simple debit cards, credit cards or virtual cards. I suggest asking what the cheapest card is that can be used to purchase products online and go with that.
 

3. Now this is the most technical step you need to understand. EBay knows your IP address (an IP address is the address assigned by your internet service provider at your home). So every time you will try to register with eBay, eBay will know that you are coming from the same place.
 

First, you have to decide if you want to use the same computer that you used with your old suspended eBay account. If you are going to use another computer, you don’t need to do anything now. However, if you decide to use the same computer, create a new user account right now. Creating a new user account on Windows or Mac OS is very simple and if you don’t know how to do that, simply search for it on Google and you will find the answer quickly.
 
After you create your new Windows user account, remember to use it every time you sign in to eBay or PayPal. This new user account is just for eBay, PayPal and your email if you are not using Gmail. If you have a Gmail account, you can use it using any Windows user account because it blocks images from emails that you will receive from eBay.
 
Next, you have to change your IP address or use another internet connection outside of your home. If you are not techie person, I suggest calling your internet service provider and ask if they can provide you with a static or dynamic IP address first.
 
How To Change Dynamic IP Address
 
First, go to Google, type in ‘my IP address,’ click on the first link in the search results and write down the IP address. Now disconnect your router and then plug it back in. After that, repeat the above steps for Google and check to see if your IP address has changed. If it has changed, you are good to go.
 
How to change the static IP address
 
I know one trick and I will share it with you now. Call your ISP and say that you are having a problem and can’t access, for example, eBay. Say that your IP address is banned and you want to change it. Say that it is important. If they agree to change it, wait until they do so and move on to the next step.
 
If somehow you are not able to do anything in regards to your IP address in your home, you can go to your friend who doesn’t have an eBay account or somewhere where you can find an internet connection and use it there. However, remember to choose a place where you can come back anytime you want.
 
4. After you have a new IP address or have found a place to go that has a different one, create a brand new email account. Next, create new eBay and PayPal accounts using the information from the person you are getting to help you acquire the new credit card.
 
5. After you get the credit card inserted in to PayPal, verify your account. After that, you will receive a 4-digit number from the bank. Put this number in to your PayPal account and you will be verified.
 
6. Wait for 30 days and list one item to sell. List anything you want in auction format just to test if your account is OK and to ensure it will active and will not be suspended just after listing the first item. List it as a 7-day auction and if everything is OK, end it early after only a few days.
 
7. Now you have a new account and are ready to start selling. All you have to do is think about how you are going to operate since if you are using the internet away from your home, it will be very hard to go out each time to answer any questions that may arise and list new items. Because of that, the best thing you can do is change your home’s IP address.

 
Remember Some Critical Things
 
If you choose to use information from a person you are living with, you have to change the address too because eBay can link your account to your previous by that one little detail. This is very important.
 
The golden rule is to use 100% new information (i.e. the name, address, email, user ID and everything else connected to the new account) in order for it to stay safe and not to be linked to your previous suspended account. If eBay links you with your old account, you will be suspended again.

So let me explain the situation where I was able to outrank one eBay top rated seller without me being top rated and I had less feedback than he did.
 
Like always, I was using Terapeak to research eBay, trying to find a good product to resell. I found one really good seller making a lot of money just from a few products from only one niche. Actually, I found more than five sellers selling the same products, but only one of them was making three times more money than the others did combined. After some testing, I found that I would still make a profit, even if I didn’t beat this top seller. So I found a supplier, ordered a sample, after that I placed a big order and started to make money.
 
My position in this niche was the same as the other eBay sellers, making far less than this top rated one. I felt that I had to be in his position and that I want his buyers; I want to make as much as he is making now.
 
At first, I did a test and copied everything from him, with a few minor changes, to see if it will change the situation. But the situation was the same and maybe even a little bit worse than before. I was testing with a lower price and this helped only a little.
 
This top rated seller still was the authority, had good feedback score and nice top rated seller logo, and by doing what I was doing to outrank him was impossible.
 
Even though I was copying everything he was doing, there was still one huge difference: he had a lot of feedback and a top rated status.
 
The moment I realized this changed everything. I found the mindset to start testing right away. The mindset goes like this: you don’t have to think about how to outrank your competition; you don’t have to think about competition at all. Instead, you have to focus on your marketing, services and buyer satisfaction. That’s all that matters.
 
After really understanding what I found, I stopped trying to copy what he is doing, and started to make everything far better than him.

After you have a supplier you want to order from, the critical move has to be taken by you – sending money to a person who you have never actually seen in real life.

Because you are dealing with wholesale suppliers from China, to do something as simple as sending money, even if you are using one of the best payment methods around such as PayPal, will be very hard to get your money back if something goes wrong.
 
Three major payment methods are offered by suppliers in China: T/T – bank-to-bank transfer, WU – Western Union and PayPal.
 
Most of all wholesale suppliers, especially those from China, accept only T/T and WU.
 
However, I want to share with you one trick that many people don’t know.
 
When you are researching a supplier for a product you want to resell, in the description you will see that the supplier only accepts T/T and WU. But after you contact the wholesale supplier and ask what payment methods he accepts, he may tell you T/T, WU and PayPal. This happens a lot.
 
This example shows that you have to speak with suppliers directly. This means you have to ask not only about the payment methods, but about product prices exc. As a rule of thumb, dealing with wholesale suppliers on Alibaba is not the same as buying something from eBay.
 
On eBay, if you choose to buy it now, this item is already yours and after that, you need to pay the eBay seller.
 
Alibaba is different. It is all about talking and dealing with a wholesale supplier. That’s because they don’t put special attention on the product ads they put on Alibaba. This means that even if it says that a supplier accepts only T/T and the price is $40, it can actually be that it costs $30 and that the supplier accepts T/T and PayPal.
 
Keep in mind that at all the times you need to contact the supplier directly. The relationship on Alibaba between you and a supplier is much different than on eBay with your buyer. Suppliers are looking at you from a company perspective and they think that you are the company as well, even if you are not.
 
Basically, Alibaba is a B2B, which means it is a business-to-business platform, and the price and payment methods depend on how you are able to convince the supplier.
 
The most used payment method is T/T. Telegraphic transfer, also well known as a bank-to-bank transfer, is used a lot. This method is very simple; you just go to the bank or sign on to your online bank services, choose to send money internationally, fill in the required fields and that’s all. In the box where you have to put why you are sending the money, you write the proforma invoice number. You get the proforma invoice from the supplier so that you know the details for what you are paying for and from what company you are buying.
 
WU, or Western Union, is a very easy and fast service. You send money and the supplier receives it in 10-15 minutes anywhere in the world. A lot of scammers love this method, but there are good and reliable suppliers who also take WU.

Well, sometimes I use WU, but only with suppliers that I know. For those that I am buying from regularly and for whatever reason I want to send them money quickly so they have money in their hands right away, as opposed to using PayPal.
 
And the most loved payment method by eBay users is PayPal. There are plenty of suppliers that accept this payment method, but is PayPal safe?
 
Before you use this method, I want to talk about some specifics, because sending money to a supplier in China is much different than sending money to the seller that you just bought an item from on eBay.
 
Is PayPal safe? Yes, PayPal is safe, but it is still comes with some risks. Well of course, all business is risky, but this method is not as super safe as everyone says it is. Yes, I lost some money in the past because of suppliers that were not so honest. Let me explain how.
 
The first scenario is when you send money to a wholesale supplier in China and you receive the item, but it is not what was described. If you bought an item from a supplier on Alibaba and not eBay, and pay using PayPal, this system won’t cover your money if the item is not as described. So if you are not able to resolve this problem with the supplier, you are left alone and you will never get your money back.
 
The next scenario is even worse. You pay the supplier and you haven’t received your product. Well you open the dispute, but the supplier makes one move that you can’t even imagine; he ships you a box full of papers via DHL, for example, and provides tracking numbers to PayPal. In this situation, PayPal sees that the item was delivered. And as I said, PayPal doesn’t cover your money if the item is not as described so you are also left alone and have no money and no product.
 
PayPal will cover your money in only one situation: if you haven’t received your item and the supplier won’t provide a tracking number or respond to the dispute in the given time frame.
 
If someone is looking to scam you in much the same way on eBay, you can leave negative feedback for this seller, but on Alibaba, you can’t because it is a different platform and has a different philosophy, like I said before.
 
Is PayPal safe to use?
 
PayPal was designed for eBay and it serves that purpose well, but using it with other sources can be quite dangerous if you are not aware of these scenarios.
 
But these scams won’t happen a lot because even scammers don’t know how PayPal works and don’t know the tricks I have just shared. Of course, they can come here and read this article, but if I inform you, they will never be clever enough because we already know these and a lot of other tricks.

Now analyze what I have written.
 
The title begins with the word ‘NEW,’ I don’t use phrases such as ‘Brand New’ because people don’t search for that. It is a good idea to include this word because people can separate you from others as they may be looking for a ‘Used’ one.
 
After that comes the phrase ‘Apple iPhone 4,’ its color, capacity and other words.
 
For example, if it is ‘Unlocked’ it is a good idea to mention it, because people search for that word. ‘Warranty’ is not the best keyword but because there are no more high traffic keywords left, I used this one. And at the end ‘NIB,’ which every eBay user knows is ‘New In Box’.
 
I don’t include words like ‘Free shipping’ because if it is free, eBay will show sign near your picture.
 
Don’t include such words such as ‘No Reserve,’ ‘Good,’ etc. as these are words that people don’t search for.
 
If you have no idea what keywords to use, Terapeak can help you with that. If you do your research, it also shows the keywords that have been used the most from completed eBay listings. It is very good because you have a list of keywords that were used from successful auctions.

The title is made up of only the keywords; it can have no meaning at all. It can be just separate keywords with no idea.

A Trick That The Advanced eBay Seller Should Know
 
At the end, I will give you one trick free.
 
Go and put Apple iPhone in the eBay search tool, look at the results.
 
It shows the most relevant auctions to the keywords you entered called the ‘best match’ by default.
 
Now see that more than half of the listings end in less than 24 hours, and there are users that have no feedback at all who appear on the first page of search results.
 
As you know ‘best match’ means that eBay considers everything like the title, time, feedback score, DSR rating and other factors.
 
But you will definitely appear in the first page when your auction is ending in 1, 2 or even 5 hours so this means that ending time is a big factor.
 
EBay considers the amount of time left in your auction. For example, if your listing is in auction format and you are planning to list it for 7 days because you think you will get a higher price, there is no need to do that. If your auction is listed in a 7 days format, it appears far away from page one. When the time is less than 24 hours, you will be in the first page.
 
There is no reason to wait so long and loose time; there is no benefit in that for you. I tested is so many times and the results are absolutely the same.
 
If you list, for example, in a 1-day auction, you will be on the first result page fast since you are targeting the right keywords and your ending time is less than 24 hours, so you will get all the attention and the same or better results than listing in 7 days auction.
 
This means that ending time plays a huge role, even in the best match results.
 
You will get better results if your product is not as highly competitive as Apple.
 
I practice this all the time with video training I have, by listing in the 30 days fixed price format listings and the 7 days auction format with the same price, I stayed on the first page of the eBay results page with auction listings all the time, even with a low feedback score.
 
I use 7-day listings for my training product auctions just to advertise, because I sell the same product and relisting it in a 1 or 3 days auction is quite expensive for me. Showing on the first page of eBay in the fixed price format is very hard.
 
In this way, potential buyers see my auction and if they want to buy right now, they can click to see my other listings and find the same item with fixed price.
 
Or you can say in your listing that the buyer can find the fixed price format by clicking ‘See Other Items.’
 
Remember eBay likes auctions more than fixed prices, so chances are much higher to be on the first page using it, as I said, even with same price.
 
Situations are different, so keep that in mind and test what method fits you the best.
 
I gave some guidelines and you have to find how to use them to get the most benefit from your product. Because sometimes it is better to list in 3 days auction not in a 1-day auction, and to end it early if you see that something goes wrong.
 
It all depends on the competition, product and what you want to accomplish.
