Learn How To Steal Your Main Competitor’s Buyers Without Them Noticing

Analyzing eBay with Terapeak is a great way to get you and your eBay competitors’ turnover. However, most of the time, you will see that your competition is making more money than you are. All those times I felt I deserved the same and I had to learn how to get all those buyers away from them.
 
I had a lot of different experience because I outranked some very tough competitors and I was even offended by some as well.
 
A few years ago, I entered a niche and I was the only seller making a decent amount of money. After six months, another seller started selling the same items I was. Nine months later, another seller came in.
 
They copied everything from me: my description, the email that I sent to my buyers, my gallery pictures and so on. They also changed everything just enough so I couldn’t protest and take legal action against them for copying.
 
The money they were making was not as much as me, so some of them created multiple eBay buyer accounts, bought items from me and left a lot of negative feedback, claiming that I am a bad person and my products are low quality. It was illegal activity and they wanted to remove me by using black tricks. However, I contacted eBay, explained everything and they removed all of the negative feedback fast.
 
The conclusion is that they spent a lot of time planning and creating those eBay accounts, but they still couldn’t beat me.
 

The good news is that I am still the authority in this niche and they can’t do anything to outrank me
 
Killing eBay Competitors Nicely
 
So let me explain the situation where I was able to outrank one eBay top rated seller without me being top rated and I had less feedback than he did.
 
Like always, I was using Terapeak to research eBay, trying to find a good product to resell. I found one really good seller making a lot of money just from a few products from only one niche. Actually, I found more than five sellers selling the same products, but only one of them was making three times more money than the others did combined. After some testing, I found that I would still make a profit, even if I didn’t beat this top seller. So I found a supplier, ordered a sample, after that I placed a big order and started to make money.
 
My position in this niche was the same as the other eBay sellers, making far less than this top rated one. I felt that I had to be in his position and that I want his buyers; I want to make as much as he is making now.
 
At first, I did a test and copied everything from him, with a few minor changes, to see if it will change the situation. But the situation was the same and maybe even a little bit worse than before. I was testing with a lower price and this helped only a little.
 
This top rated seller still was the authority, had good feedback score and nice top rated seller logo, and by doing what I was doing to outrank him was impossible.
 
Even though I was copying everything he was doing, there was still one huge difference: he had a lot of feedback and a top rated status.
 
The moment I realized this changed everything. I found the mindset to start testing right away. The mindset goes like this: you don’t have to think about how to outrank your competition; you don’t have to think about competition at all. Instead, you have to focus on your marketing, services and buyer satisfaction. That’s all that matters.
 
After really understanding what I found, I stopped trying to copy what he is doing, and started to make everything far better than him.
 
Design
 
I implemented a design similar to what I am offering free right now (Free eBay Template), but a little bit worse because it was a long time ago and this free template is the improved version. As you noticed, most of the sellers use ugly eBay listing designs that are hard to understand and follow. My goal was to create a design that would be easy to follow, that would build trust with the buyer, provide all of the information to the buyer, has a YouTube video explaining everything about the product the potential eBay buyer is looking to buy. I also inserted 10 professional pictures taken by me that showed my product with my eBay ID name. I also created eye-catching gallery pictures and I found that the best gallery pictures look best when you use a frame, it can be yellow, red, blue, etc. depending on the product.
 
Free Bonus
 
This is the best way to increase the value of the product. Sometimes it can cost a dollar to buy this bonus from China, but the eBay buyer will see it as a real bargain. For example, if the buyer is looking to buy an HDD media player and if you will offer a free HDMI cable, it will be an absolute bargain because the buyer doesn’t have to spend money on this item. Instead, he will see it as getting a bonus from you for spending the same amount as he would if he were to buy from a competitor. Offering these kinds of small bonuses is the easiest way to get more sales.
 

Free Gift
 
I always insert a free gift. It can be a chocolate bar or something like that. This method will always triple your amount of returning customers and it will be easier to solve problems if they happen, even if it is your fault.
 
Shipping
 
I suggest using air to ship, unless the buyer lives within the same country, then you can use ground. Always purchase the tracking number and always provide the information right away after you ship the product. I also noticed a huge difference if I ship it right away after the buyer placed the order.
 
Analyzing Your Competition
 
If you have only one or two eBay competitors, I suggest you buy the same product from them and check to see what services they use to ship, how they pack the product, how good they are as eBay top rated sellers and how you can be better.
 
Lower Price
 
At first, start building your authority by selling at a lower price, maybe 5-15% lower. It will be very hard to compete if you are selling at the same price as the seller who has a lot of feedback.
 
Answering The Questions
 
This is a very important part of all eBay businesses. If you get a question, your chances to sell your product to this person are huge. I like to sign in to eBay and my email to check my inbox twice a day and answer buyer questions honestly and quickly. Give them everything they want, the more information you provide, the bigger the chance you will have a returning customer in the future and always be honest, do not lie. Say it as it is, even if it is something bad. People are not stupid and they notice if you are lying so it is much easier to communicate by being an honest person and building up your good reputation.
 
Remember that most of your money is from returning customers. It is much easier to serve the same people than to find new ones. Therefore, your main goal is to give your buyers the best service you can.
 
My success story happened because I implemented everything I just discussed. My sales increased instantly and I started to make more money. Of course, it takes time to outrank someone, but I was able to do that in a short period of time and my competitor is now copying everything from me because now I have his customers. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
 
Never be afraid if someone is copying you. It is a sign that you are doing something right and you are better than this person is, but don’t stop. Your goal is not to stop. Do your best every day so no one can beat you in the future. Thinking that you are the best and you are unstoppable is a sign of failure in the future. I was able to beat my competitors because they don’t know how to improve and manage their businesses. They also don’t know the tips that I just explained.
 
EBay is a simple marketplace where anyone can start selling, but only few will know how to compete with other eBay sellers.
 
The main goal is to focus on your own eBay business, not how to destroy your competitors using dirty tricks. You will beat your competition by taking care of your own customers and their needs.
